MC Hammer Is Appalled By Jay-Z

Posted by J. Tinsley on September 27, 2010

From the moment it leaked, talk of who had the best verse on “So Appalled” rang loud. Some say Pusha. Others petitioned for CyHi. Myself, I was on the Hov bandwagon. There’s not many artists better in the history of rap music than an angry and sharp Shawn Carter. When he’s in such a zone, lyrical casualties are normally the result and this time was no different. To the chagrin of no one, the man who made parachute pants poppin’ – MC Hammer – fell for the bait in the form of the said bars.

And Hammer went broke so you know I’m more focused
I lost 30 mil so I spent another 30
Cause unlike Hammer 30 million can’t hurt me
.”

Hammer then took to his near two million Twitter follower audience to let folks know he was none too pleased with the shot. On one hand, being called out sucks. On the other, everyone and their publicist knows Hammer is known as the antagonist for money management. So while it may be a diss, there’s also a lot of truth in Jay’s allusion as well. Kanye West’s VMA Performance Featuring Pusha T – “Runaway”

Posted by T. Adeyemi on September 13, 2010

Truly the man of the hour last night, Kanye in many people’s opinion saved the night for MTV. Amongst the spectacle that is Lady Gaga  that was  paraded in front of the camera seemingly all night due to her eight victories, plus a night of suspect hosting by Chelsea Handler aka Chelsea Lately, Kanye’s star shined the brightest.

Kanye who more than likely had been awaiting this moment more than anyone prepared a new song especially for the VMA’s. As did his arch nemesis Taylor Swift, who performed earlier in the night. Kanye’s brashness and critical musical opinion has been well documented throughout his career. Which culminated with his interruption of Swift during her acceptance speech for Best Female Video at the 2009 VMA’s. Read the rest of this entry »

“That Street Sh*t Will Buy You Some Sh*t You Wouldn’t Believe…”

Posted by J. Tinsley on May 5, 2010

Between Jeezy and Jada, their respective tapes mark the start of potentially insane summer. And that’s not even considering Cam and Vado’s new “Gangsta Grillz” set to drop any now.

The true rating behind Jeezy’s newest street scripture, Trap or Die II, is still weeks off. Sure people will run around either claiming it’s his best tape ever or his worst, but ask again in about two months – that’ll be your real answer. Seeing as how I held off from any leak other than the song with Plies, it was a refreshing listen all the way through in my book. Some songs stood out more than others, obviously, but it appears to be another quality release in Jeezy’s already respected resume’.

Going into the tape, one of the more anticipated was his collaboration with Virginia Cavaliers, Malice and Pusha T, otherwise known as Clipse. Given the lyrical track record of the three, it wasn’t difficult to guess what the song would center around. Coke, drugs and gunplay all cooked over a simmering instrumental. Thankfully, it was all that plus more. Spitting first, Jeezy wasted no time getting straight to the point. (Keep reading…)

Clipse – Freedom (Video)

Posted by Mr. Put On on January 19, 2010

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Malice and Pusha T speak of Freedom. They speak of the complications of the industry, the struggles they’ve had being a part of it, and outside of it. A story of sorts, it commemorates black history, and tells the story of themselves. Keep a close eye on this video to catch the subliminals through both words and visuals.

Once again, this is a tough video from the Clipse. Everything they’ve put out with regards to Til’ the Casket Drops has been sensational. I don’t care what the critics or album sales say. All lovers of good music will enjoy every track and every video put out by these two.

If you haven’t picked up your copy yet, make sure you do.

JABARI FEAT. NICKI MINAJ & PUSHA T – "DOPEMAN"

Posted by J. Tinsley on May 6, 2009

00-cover8

The homie Jabari is the ultimate come up story. He hasn’t even graduated from Howard yet and already one of the premiere up and coming journalists on the internet. His YouTube videos have made him a mainstay in hip-hop’s viral takeover and now he is prepping the release of his debut compilation album, Famous On The Internet.

Big shout out go to Jabari for his entire movement and what he’ll achieve in the future. Also, a big congratulations go out to his graduation from the other HU. No shots, any black man graduating college is an achievement in my book.
