“Them Roc Nation rumors ain’t true, but yeah I heard ‘em…”
Let’s get this straight: Nipsey’s debut album, the mythical Detoxand Game’s R.E.D.album all in one year? It may not happen, but the thought sounds good as I type it. Keep in mind we’ve already gotten an E-40 project and Snoop is preparing to re-release Malice In Wonderland. And Too $hort will always be around. The West appears to be alive and kicking right now, and honestly, I couldn’t be more happy about it. Pac would be proud. Read the rest of this entry »
The other Day Jae Millz disputed XXL top 10 freshman cover. basically Millz wanted Vado ( who hasnt even had a real single) to be on the list. Then he argued how he only knew 5 artist off of the cover. Well Jae Millz might be going crazy or he might be sad that he never could make it on any cover by himself . Since he did say that he has been in the game for 10 years. These arent your typical freshman from Highschool either and they were not going to let Millz disrespect an exclusive class. The man from the West Coast Nipsey Hussle didnt take these words to light either blasting out on his twitter ” 4 the record if you been rapping 10 years and aint drop yet….. it’s over. ” The new XXL is now out just go get one and see if you agree for yourself.
I took away two things from this clip: the music and the knowledge. Next Sunday is definitely going to be super for more than one reason. Aside from Colts/Saints, Curren$y and Don Cannon’s long-awaited collaboration, Smokee Robinson, invades speakers for the first time. Spitta, Wiz and Nip recently had a studio session for the project which included good weed and even better music. From the sounds of things, it seems to already be a front runner for the standout record.
Now, the knowledge. With the scent of kush and sour diesel permanently settled in the studio, the three cannabis connoisseurs discuss smoking habits. A blunt man himself, Hussle, takes in words of wisdom from Curren$y who warns about the dangers of blunts. Ever wonder why Nip always looks tired? Because he smokes blunts, not papers, according to the Mythblazers.
Again I find myself on another late night scavenger hunt of sorts. More or less, I use these LATE nights to think and to plot how to become more successful each day. Life for me is currently defined by 1 word: Progression. In the midst of brainstorming my eventual world takeover I decided to browse through the GradeAStaff@gmail.com inbox, and I happen to come across an interesting new track from Snoop Dogg’s reincarnation aka Nipsey Hussle.
I admit, I was skeptic about this South Central Los Angeles product when his praises were sang back around last May by none other than Mr. I Love the West Coast even though I’m from the East, J. Tinsley. But from that point I have kept my ears out for any new music that Mr. Hussle drops, and I have found myself beginning to feel his vibe more and more. This feeling has never been more evident to me than right now. Especially, since I have had this track on repeat for the last half hour now, prompting this post.
Now I know once you press the play button on his latest offering you may have some mixed feelings. Questions will certainly surface about Nipsey’s desire to “crossover” and how dedicated to the streets he is. I personally never see those two questions as factors in determining if I am feeling a track or not. There’s something about this Iyaz assisted track that involuntarily provoked that familiar head nod and quickly had me turning up the volume. Maybe, its just the way Mark Morrison’s familiar tune has been looped by producer Jonathan “J.R.” Rotem. This remake has a new school header with an old school feeling of when music was made to be listened to in your drop top with your boys along side, music blasting, sun shining in the summertime type of feel. This song provokes the same feeling I get every time I hear The Fresh Prince & Dj Jazzy Jeff’s“Summertime”.
Sooner or later the world will be blessed with “Bullets Ain’t Got No Names Vol. 3” and then, and only then, can I don my Chuck’s and Dodger fitted to make the cipher complete (Nas heads understand the reference). Here’s a synopsis of what’s discussed.
Part 1 of an exclusive 3-part Nipsey Hussle video interview with WestCoastRydaz.com. We caught up with Nipsey on the set of a new movie with star actor Ving Rhames and talked about his new mixtapes, album, Crips, Bloods and much more.
As June inches closer, so do the release dates of two of my more anticipated records with those being J. Cole’s “The Warm Up” and Nipsey Hussle’s “Bullets Ain’t Got No Names Vol. 3”. (Keep reading…)
Neighborhood Nip back at it again, but don’t worry, this won’t be featured on Bullets Ain’t Got No Names Vol. 3. Consider this something to hold you over until the bomb drops next month.
It’s been well over a month since I’ve posted one of these, so I figured to charge the cam up today and drop a few jewels, throw some shout outs and pretty much put a face to all the posts you read on here. In case you forgot, P.I.A.R. means Progression In ARecession.
