Drake Conjures The Ghost Of Dwayne Carter

Posted by J. Tinsley on August 20, 2010

The summer is almost over and Drake’s Thank Me Later is still one of the hottest releases. The third visual from the platinum selling LP is his Lil Wayne assisted, “Miss Me.” This was one of the better tracks from the album with Drake’s opening bar being one of the most infectious in recent memory. Like Father Like Son

Posted by servontaym on June 29, 2010

After the BET awards you could see that Lil Wayne still had his mark in hip hop even if he was locked away on Rikers Island. From his protegé Drake winning a BET award an also hitting the stage and Nicki Minaj also winning an award also performing ,Wayne didnt have to be there at all. It was like  a proud father moment for him also with his Young Money team getting a BET award nomination. But I can’t even credit all this success to Lil Wayne it all starts back with the Hotboyz. Eminem Talks Near “Career Suicide” (by J. Tinsley)

Posted by T. Adeyemi on June 24, 2010

Since the moment Eminem’s latest album, Recovery, leaked, one of the tidbits many focused on was his revelation on the track “Talkin’ 2 Myself.” Here, Marshall admitted that during his days of drug addiction, he damn near dissed Kanye and Lil Wayne. His reasoning being they were the two who were “killing the game” (the good kind) at that point in time. I know the first time I gave the album a spin that this statement caught me by surprise mainly because of the honesty. When it comes to Hip-Hop, I’m a sucker for honest type tracks. It’s also proof of the paranoid drug addiction can subconsciously induce. Read the rest of this entry »

It Doesn’t Look Good At All For Boosie (by J. Tinsley)

Posted by T. Adeyemi on June 18, 2010

Looking at this picture, three impulse reactions occurred to me – eventually, doesn’t look good and hell no. It may seem years away, but Tunechi will be home in time to watch the Thanksgiving Day NFL games. Freeing ALL prisoners just isn’t a good idea and with this latest revelation, it looks like Boosie may never experience freedom again, as we originally hinted at a few days ago. A sad story all around, Bad Azz was formally indicted on first degree murder-for-hire charges on Terry Boyd.

Rapper Lil Boosie (real name Torrance Hatch) has been indicted for first degree murder. Lil Boosie was indicted by a East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury early evening Thursday for the October 2009 shooting murder of Terry Boyd. According to the district attorney, Lil Boosie may receive the death penalty according to a district attorney. The rap star is already incarcerated at Dixon Correctional Institute.

Realizing he’s either facing the death penalty or life behind bars, lil’ Marlo is probably telling everything under the sun. The D.A. in this case – Hillar Moore III – also said investigators were looking to see if Boosie was involved in at least five other slayings. Read the rest of this entry »

Gudda Gudda Travels “Back 2 Guddaville” (by J. Tinsley)

Posted by T. Adeyemi on June 8, 2010

The first one received such a warm reaction that they had to do another. YM’s own Gudda Gudda takes you back to where it all started for Back 2 Guddaville accompanied by DJ Ill Will and DJ Rockstar.

Gudda has been establishing his own identity with the YM co-sign. Throughout the trip, you’ll find guest features from Vado, Jay Rock, Killa Kyleon, Waka Flocka and the usual appearances from fellow label mates Mack Maine, Jae Millz, Short Dawg and Lil Wayne.  Also be on the look out for the “I Don’t Like The Look Of It” video featuring Weezy set to drop soon.

Enough talking, more music. Tracklist and link after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Review: Nas x Damian Marley – “Distant Relatives”

Posted by Okla Jones on May 28, 2010

In the grand scheme of things, the combination of Nas and Damian Marley isn’t something that should’ve come as a suprise to most. I’ve always believed that all forms of black music are intertwined one way or another, as Nas proved in the duet with his father, aptly called “Bridging The Gap”. The offspring of legendary jazz musician, Olu Dara and the undisputed king of Reggae Bob Marley; have come together to collaborate or one of the best hip-hop albums released in a while, titled Distant Relatives. Thank Me Later Coming Soon (by J. Tinsley)

Posted by Mr. Put On on May 25, 2010

For an album that is so anticipated, Thank Me Later is leaking slowly but surely. Depending the type of person you are, that’s a good or bad thing. Good because you’re getting instant feedback. Bad because, in a perfect world, you’d like for people to hear the finished product at one specific time.

Master P Addresses Lil Wayne & Birdman (by J. Tinsley)

Posted by T. Adeyemi on April 11, 2010

Say what you will about Master P, but his place is in Hip-Hop is forever solidified. Anytime you can take a start up label and make hundreds of millions of dollars from it, people will listen anytime you talk.

Well, they definitely will now. Recently, P spoke his mind on Hip-Hop’s incarcerated enigma, Lil Wayne, and how his career has progressed over the years. It’s a rather interesting take and Percy even offers up what he would say to the young man given the chance.

He also gives his input on Birdman and Weezy’s apparent addiction to getting tattoos. All in all, it’s worth the five minutes and 27 seconds of your life on this Sunday evening. Read the rest of this entry »
