Brick Squad 1017: The Short Bus Shorty Parody Video

Posted by T. Adeyemi on July 10, 2010

Occasionally those forwarded emails you receive everyday (and probably delete everyday) do contain something worth a minute of your time. Today’s hidden gem happens to be a pretty comical parody of your favorite Brick Squad boys with Soulja Boy along for the ride. If you’re having a lazy Saturday or you just can’t help yourself when it comes to this kind of foolishness, then feel free to press play.

It’s a shame this parody is coincidentally so accurate…Don’t be surprised if you see this on a mixtape coming your way soon. Shout Out to the guys that made my day with this video. Read the rest of this entry »

Debra Antney–Cease and Desist as management of Nicki Minaj & Gucci Mane?

Posted by Miss Allie Cole on May 13, 2010

Debra Antney, Manager & Owner of Mizay Entertainment and Mother of Waka Flocka Flame.

So you might have seen the video, maybe you even heard the name, but what’s really going on with Debra Antney and her managament duties over Nicki Minaj and Gucci Mane?..Let me give you a little background…

Debra Antney, manager and owner of Mizay entertainment, has been in the mouths, ears and minds of the streets and the hip-hop world; everyone wants to know why ties were cut between Deb and her two, now superstar- status artists, Gucci Mane and Nicki Minaj.

It was rumored that she was fired by Nicki Minaj and that Gucci Mane was moving on from So Icy to 1017 Bricksquad, which consists of artists that affliate and work with Gucci, such as Frenchie and OJ da Jucieman. It all continues to be speculation as neither artist has stepped forward and spoken directly on this matter.

Let’s listen to Deb herself…

Although Debra undoubtedly  takes pride in and credit for her artists and bringing them to the forefront, at the end of the day, she still has respect for them and their artistic and entrepreneurial  choices. I’m glad to see that there is no beef…because seriously…there’s enough money out here for all of us [business and media management moguls, and etc…] .

And…Waka Flocka NOW we know where you get it from! Momma is just as gangsta as she WANTS to be! RESPECT!

Gucci Mane Realeased From Jail (by J. Tinsley)

Posted by Mr. Put On on May 12, 2010

It seems as if it has been longer, but Gucci’s six months behind bars have come to a close. This morning Gucci Mane was released from Fulton County Jail ready to resume his rising career. In what was a customary check before any inmate leaves the facility, no warrants were found to be issued for the 1017 Brick Squad front man while incarcerated. So as of this moment, Gucci Mane is once again a free man. Read the rest of this entry »

Jacob The Jeweler is a Free Man

Posted by servontaym on April 5, 2010

Jacob the Jeweler is a free man after a 8 month stint in the pen. Even though he was sent to a halfway house after being released on March 25th, he can still work at his shop as long as he is back before his nightly curfew. After doing charitable work in jail Jacob was released early from a 30 month sentence after being charged with money laundering. I know there are a whole lot of rappers happy that their favorite jeweler can finally tend to their jewelery needs. My prediction is that Gucci Mane and the whole Brick Squad Crew will be valued customers.

Battle of the Sexes: Worth a Listen

Posted by lovelyboricua24 on March 31, 2010

So, I’m a little behind with this review but this album hasn’t gotten too much play anyway, so I think I’m good. lol Battle of the Sexes is Ludacris‘ 7th studio album and is definitely worth a listen. “How Low”  and “My Chick Bad” are typical commercial tracks, but the rest of the songs on the album are pure ATLish. (If you know what I mean lol) “Everybody Drunk” and “Party No Mo” featuring Gucci are some good hood bangers. Songs like “Can’t Live Without You”, “Tell Me a Secret” and “Sex Room” soften up the album and it’s rounded out by fun songs such as, “Sexting”. It’s a versatile album that you can dance, ride and get it in to. lol Here’s the track list and link to download, y’all enjoy: Read the rest of this entry »

Wale Faces Criticism Over New Video, “Pretty Girls” (J. Tinsley)

Posted by T. Adeyemi on February 10, 2010

Vodpod videos no longer available.

It doesn’t take much to get the Twitter gossip wheels in motion. Such was the case with Wale’s newest video, “Pretty Girls,” sans Gucci Mane. The newest single from his debut album, Attention Deficit, was conjuring remarks that date back to as far as the Willie Lynch Theory itself. Dark skin vs. light skin. Pretty vs. ugly. And one of underlying themes from the classic movie, “School Daze.”

The majority of the debate swirled diversity, or lack thereof, of young ladies in the video (some even question the quality of their appearance). While backlash from the video was clearly evident, Wale, himself, defended his newest visual. Read the rest of this entry »

Waka Flocka – O Let’s Do It (Remix) Feat. Diddy, Rick Ross & Gucci Mane

Posted by T. Adeyemi on February 4, 2010

YEAaaaaaa! O Let’s Do It! Forgive ME for being in a Knuck if you Buck, Trap Music, shake your dreds (if I had them) type of mood. I guess sometimes you can’t help but to Hop Up Out The Bed and BOUNCE!

So apparently it wasn’t just a coincidence that I had this song on my mind. Because as soon as I opened up the Grade A email what do I find but a sure fire remix to this track. And apparently I’m not the only one whose had this beat circling through their head with the series of remixes that have surfaced since this song first got fire (pun intended) late last year.

With everybody from Weezy Wee, Ludacris, Wale and now Diddy jumping on the track its sure to stick around at least a little while longer. It sounds like this is an old verse from Ross and maybe Gucci too. But for my money I’d say Luda had the best remix verse thus far.
