Lakers Go Back 2 Back, How Could You Hate That?

I'm Self Entitling This Picture - "I see YOU Hating, Cause YOU MAD!"

If you didn’t see this post coming, then you truly haven’t been visiting the site consistently enough over the months. To my closest friends, they saw this post coming almost win or lose; as I have continued to be a die-hard Lakers fan even after the heartbreak of losing to the Boston Celtics in 2008. But that’s the past. And if there is one thing I have learned over by sub 25 years of living, it’s that we, “Tend to forget the past, Only concern ourselves with the present, and Hope instead of plan for the future.” Feel free to quote me there. Anyway, as the old gospel hymn goes,

This is the day, This is the day
That the LORD has made, that the LORD has made
I will rejoice, I will rejoice
And be glad in it, glad in it

With that being said, I plan on taking those words to heart and rejoicing not only today but throughout the offseason about the Lakers 2010 NBA Championship. How could you not celebrate an event like this? Why would you hate this moment? This is a time to be positive and ignore any negative energy that some may have about what happened last night. Let me tell you why.

For starters, I believe as many more basketball enthusiast are saying as well now that this repeat championship could be a string of one or two more for L.A. Don’t believe me? Think about this, the Celtics Big 3 have clearly aged and look to be on their last lap. plus, there are rumors of Ray Allen’s departure after a VERY turbulent year shooting and with his impending free agency.

Then, as much as all of you LeBron James fans would like to proclaim LBJ will win a ‘ship next season, seriously look at his options and think again. I think its safe to say with Delonte West sexing LeBron’s mom, his time in Cleveland is over. Sadly, that’s where he;d have his best immediate opportunity to win a championship. Think about it, they’ve come close the last three years and now he will have to build new chemistry and regroup somewhere else. No team is completely stacked with talent that is missing that one Superstar piece in LeBron that can compete with the Lakers. The key thing I forgot to mention there, is no team with MONEY to spend has the talent already on deck. Definitely not the Clippers with an unproven Blake Griffin & questionable from night to night Baron Davis, you should be embarrassed if you say the Nets, and Knicks fans…I won’t even address that foolishness. All in all, the Bulls probably have the best roster ready to play with LeBron and contend for a championship.

However, all of that LBJ speculation can be left for the “third season.” Today and until this time next year is all about the Lakeshow. Kobe & Derek Fisher’s fifth ring should be seen as an amazing accomplishment. Both of them have been extremely clutch at different points in their careers. Furthermore, they together hold many records that I will bet will stand the test of time in Lakers history.

For right now I won’t touch on how great this fifth ring makes Kobe “Bean” Bryant. We’ll save the Jordan comparisons and the questions about, “Is Kobe the greatest Laker ever,” for another post. Instead, I’ll just leave you with this in regards to Kobe, never once can you say when he stepped on the court while he played did he not believe he was the best player on the court. As anyone in any profession knows, confidence is half the battle.

To Kobe Bryant, Ron Artest, Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Derek Fisher, Lamar Odom, Luke Walton, Sasha Vujacic, Josh Powell, D.J. Mbenga, Jordan Farmar, and Shannon Brown (Hell, throw in Adam Morrison too), you guys are champions and no one can take that away from you. As the saying goes, you’re the champion until somebody beats you. Well since we just repeated I guess you’ll have to wait until next year Haters!
