Freestyling…Yea remember that art form? I know it is hard to remember what a REAL freestyle actually consisted of. In today’s day and age its no secret that most artists go in the booth spit some written bars over someone’s else’s beat, possibly record it, master it, package it up and send it out to the public labeled as a “Freestyle.” Now despite my sub 30 years of living I have not forgotten what a true freestyle is supposed to sound and feel like. Thankfully, neither have a few other people.

During Eminem’s trip across the pond recently he checked in with Tim Westwood, who in my opinion gives some of the better interviews in the game. Anyway, Marshall accompanied by Slaughterhouse general Royce Da 5′ 9″ and Mr. Porter aka Kon Artists formerly of D12 breathe a breath of life into what the word freestyle truly means.

Now, not every bar is made up of some breathtaking quotable; but really isn’t that what makes a freestyle a freestyle? I know, you’re not supposed to define a word using that word but traditionally what made a freestyle so intriguing was the ability for artists to think on the fly and at times spit out masterful sentences of ryhming intertwined similes and metaphors that made any listener wonder, “How in the hell did he come up with that sh*t!”

Well certainly Em’s no stranger to providing that reaction and without a doubt he serves up a few head scratchers throughout the cypher. Try this on for size.
