Little Brother – “Curtain Call”

Posted by Okla Jones on March 3, 2010

Once again, everyone’s favorite group from North Carolina has blessed our ears with good music. With the mammoth of a producer in 9th Wonder, along with the recent emergence of J. Cole (see: XXL‘s 10 Freshmen for ’10), the “Cack” is all but on it’s way to solidifying itself on the nation’s music radar. Now, a good bit of my family lives in Charlotte; so I’ve been a follower of Little Brother for quite some time. Their fusion of introspective lyrics, mellow production, mixed with a bit of braggadocio reminds me so much of legendary hip-hop groups such as A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul.

I for one am looking forward to the official release of their forthcoming album Left Back, as well as what LB’s artistic direction will go now that former in-house beat maker 9th Wonder, will not be contributing to the album. But enough about me, check out the first single off the disk, entitled “Curtain Call”. The LP is slated for release in late April, but we all know how that goes. The industry is shady and needs to be taken over… Wise words from a decent man.
