“Does LT still have it?…”

Posted by Okla Jones on February 22, 2010

LT doing what he does best... or is it "did" best?

I for one, have been a fan of LaDainian Tomlinson since his days as a Horned Frog at TCU. Hell, he was damn near unstoppable on Gamebreaker and NCAA, but that was about a decade ago. Time has passed, records have been broken, and earlier today the San Diego Chargers released the former face of its franchise. It’s crazy because LT is only two years removed from being the best runner in the NFL, both talent-wise, as well as statistically. Since 2007, his numbers and his health have been on a steady decline, but the question is “Does LT have anything left in the tank?”

When a person plays the position of running back, the phrase: “Here today, gone tomorrow” is something that should not be taken lightly. You’re really just one Madden cover away from being on top of the world, to a career free agent (see: Shaun Alexander). Anyway, LT has been a great role model to teenagers alike, and it has always been a dream of mine to see #21 raise the Lombardi trophy above his head in triumph. But as we all know, the world is cold… some people win a championship and sadly, some people do not.

With Tomlinson’s release today, it could mean one of two things. It could signify the end of an illustrious career, though the decline has been very sad to watch or it could mean a new beginning; a second breath so to speak. Either way, I wish LT the best of luck in whatever decision he makes (or doesn’t make) and I would love to see you carry the rock for a few more seasons, regardless of where it is.

By the way, that Nike commercial was hilarious. Be Safe y’all…
