So, Where’s Shyne? (by J. Tinsley)

Posted by T. Adeyemi on January 23, 2010

Since his release from a near decade long prison stint last fall, Moses Michael Levy (better known as “Shyne“) has been relatively quiet. For good reasons albeit. He was deported from the States and re-acclimating himself to an obviously changed world aren’t exactly the easiest tasks to conquer for a recently freed man. That’s not to say Shyne has locked himself in a room either. He’s been seen giving motivational speeches to school children in his home country of Belize on the importance of making the right decisions in life. Actually, Shyne’s been living an error-free life since coming home.

But in the Hip-Hop world, the question still remains when new music from the former Bad Boy star will be made available. Months ago, early tracklists of DJ Khaled’s upcoming album Victory leaked online showing Shyne as apart of the who’s-who of collaborators. Unknown to many, however, Po has also been working with Hip-Hop (the person) in Belize on material for his currently untitled album. The direction of Shyne’s music remains a mystery. Will his music reflect that of man who experienced a spiritual cleansing or will it be more raw and graphic than before? Or will it be a combination of both? Even Swizz Beatz wants to find out before crafting instrumentals to fit the rapper’s mood.

“I’m rocking with Shyne. I need him to find himself a little bit. Not to say he don’t know who he is, I just need him to vibe off a couple beats and be like, ‘Swizz, these are four joints right here I been rocking with, me and Scott Storch or whoever. This is the lane I wanna go with.’ Then I could digest those things and then I can come up with the best records for Tip, Shyne, for everybody. These are different techniques so I can use those darts.”

2010 looks to be a big year musically for Shyne Po, his first in well over a decade. It’s obvious to see Diddy’s former go-to artist isn’t rushing anything and letting the creative inspirations approach him instead of vice versa. The way it should be.

He is doing the right thing, if he would have came out with some wack shit, it would have killed his silent buzz. Now we just sit and wait..

I honestly say I love you brother Moses. You’ve been away and people have been trying to disrespect you, ut I know who’s real and who’s not. Stay true to the streets and the streets will be true to you. I’m not even going to name the iddiots who tried to diss you( G-Unot Nuts lickers), and they can’t even sell albums, since those true niggas from the street.i.e. sheek-Louch,Game, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, FAt Joe,Kanye and the list goes on and on letting them clowns kow who true to the game. You gotta do what you gotta do to get back to the states, but I know when your first album comes out those niggas holding down the street corners from N.Y. To L.A. will be listening, I know I will be.
