“All good things must come to an end…”

Posted by Oak Jones on January 4, 2010

Happy New Year’s ladies and gentleman… It’s been a while, right? Well, I hope you all had a very enjoyable break, but now it’s back to the basics, so strap up.

With the beginning of a New Year, it signals the conclusion of America’s true pastime, football. I can always testify that there’s nothing like spending time with family and friends, drinking some “brews” on a Sunday afternoon (after church, of course…), full of that down home cooking. Now that the BCS championship is steadily approaching, and the NFL’s playoff picture has finally been set in stone; us football junkies only have about a month until having to go through withdrawal.

The game of football is something that I believe is a right of passage for all men. Memories of watching the Saints’ game with my father, as well as his father is undeniable proof that this game forms bonds that transcends race, age and sometimes even gender. It also gives us all a reason to sit on the couch for more than 65% of the day. This is something that I will definitely miss, but hey… I knew it was coming. Now that February is on the horizon, the best time of the year for sports is coming to an end. So savor the moment everyone… but don’t panic, there’s always next season.

See y’all in Miami…
