**Earlier today, I posted this at my other blogging residence, Of course, I had to make this available at my original home. So kick back and enjoy.**

It is no secret 2009 has been officially dubbed the ‘year of the rookie’. In hip-hop, names like Asher Roth, B.o.B., Nipsey Hussle, J. Cole and Drake have all left their own respective impacts and with the second half of the year underway, all indications point to no decrease in production either. On the hardwood, the number one pick in the 2008 NBA draft, Derrick Rose, amassed a stellar season culminating in Rookie of the Year honors and leading his Chicago Bulls to within one quarter of defeating the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs.

Ask any coach the key to a championship season and the answers will more than likely remain the same. While an entertaining offense is always welcomed to maintain the enjoyment of the fans, a reliable defense is equally as important. Such is the case with some of the bigger names in the celebrity world. An efficient legal team is vital once a person makes the jump from relative unknown to bonafide social heavyweight. Similar to the names in music and sports, quite a few legal “movers and shakers” have proven their worth this year.

While they failed at pushing the court date back, it still worked out in their favor with the only punishment levied upon Brown was probation, remaining at least 50 feet away from his ex and a convicted felon label…which can be taken off if you know the right people. Thinking positive, that’s a hell of a lot better than the four and a half years in prison he was facing prior.
