Contrary to popular belief, Wale is not the only artist from the DMV (DC-Maryland-Virginia) area making noise on the music scene. More times than not this sector of the country is associated with go-go and while it remains a vital fabric to the region’s musical DNA, it’s not the only type of music. Hip-hop remains a key ingredient to DC’s makeup and the next artist to make his name on the national scene is Don Juan.

No, no, not the bishop, but a 23 year old young man from the Bronx, New York, who struck gold off his infectious single, “Lookie Looky”,  and has established quite the buzz both on and offline. With the internet being an artist’s greatest marketing tool, hundreds of videos can be seen with people creating dance routines to Juan’s record and the anticipation for his official mixtape hosted by Big Tigger and DJ Tay James builds by the day.

For those that know me, know I am all about promoting the “next” artist. I’d never support someone who I didn’t feel have the talent to make it, just the honest to God truth. Don’t expect this to be the last time you hear from Juan around here either. Just food for thought…

Shout out to the homie Anthony Hampton (Juan’s manager) as well. Hit the jump for videos.
