Sunday Soothing Session: “What Would You Do?”
Posted by J. Tinsley on February 23, 2010

I’m well aware today is Tuesday. That doesn’t mean you can’t vibe out during the middle of your work day. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a fan of The Isley Brothers. My mother was a huge fan since the ’70′s and she’d always play music around the house when I was coming up.
One big reason I still continue to appreciate their music is their ability to adapt. Most artists have a certain shelf life in the public eye. When their time up, they gracefully, or ungracefully, bow out and make room for the next crop of stars. The Isley Brothers embraced the changing music scene and cultivated new music from it. Forming a friendship with R&B icon, R. Kelly, reaped benefits. Their music videos were like movies and the music was even better. We all know about the classic infidelity anthem, “Down Low.” And “Contagious” has hands down the greatest sequences from a song ever (the conversation).
But “What Would You Do?” was another cut from the Isleys and Kelz which I always appreciated. It was smooth. A real smooth record. Ron handled the verses while Rob handled the chorus. The video matched the song almost to a tee. Except that one dude in the audience at the 1:12 mark. That was just weird.
So, without further adieu, the latest installment of Sunday Soothing Session (on a Tuesday), The Isley Brothers feat. R. Kelly – “What Would You Do?”
